Several of my students ask... "how do I get better?" and while we all know that it takes PRACTICE, patience and creative experimentation, there's something important I'd like to share with you... There's no such thing as a 'bad' or 'dumb' question... no such thing in a Perfectly Twisted world anyway. Questions are a key to getting better. When I was a 'newbie' to wire wrapping and jewelry making, I purchased tutorials, I attended classes and I YouTubed until the cows went home. But what helped me most was to learn that most good artists who are sharing and teaching their work don't mind if you ask! I love sharing my tips with you, I love helping you challenge yourself and I love to see you grow and be excited in yourself and your wire work. Take a class! I took classes from very good teachers. I practiced and I'm still grateful that I was made comfortable to ask questions and learn with a bright heart. My teachers, online and live, were generous and warm, welcoming and helpful. I appreciate them and love being the same for my students. <3 Buy beginner AND advanced tutorials! I bought advanced tutorials from very good artists, not just to learn a hard pattern, but to learn the finer details right away and also to learn the different techniques, such as wrapping vs wire weaving vs coiling. Learn from Groups! I know we all don't love the Facebook, but, if you're on it, there are quite a few great wire wrapping, beading and jewelry making groups where the learning and sharing are abundant! Follow me on Facebook and Instagram! I share free tutorials for you to experiment with... I sell my patterns and give hands on classes so you can continue to learn.... I share my pictures and my WIPs (works in progress) so you can continue to be excited and inspired. Click the Free Tutorials link in the sidebar! Categories All And if you don't already know, I do give permissions to sell the finished jewelry you make using my patterns! So if you're learning to eventually sell, you should know that many artists selling digital tutorials, also allow for the sale of physical jewelry made in their patterns. Always email the artist and ask if you're unsure of what their permissions are. This helps the new artist get started! It's always polite to give mention of your pattern/teacher too. ;) Click to shop my digital, downloadable, PDF tutorial files. Be in the bliss!
Most of all... enjoy yourself. Don't be hard on yourself, especially while you're learning. Don't compare yourself to others. Just be in the joy and bliss for your new found art! Feel the happiness of all the 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' when you show your beautiful finished pieces! And continue to learn! I am the forever student, even though I'm 13 + years into the wire wrapping / jewelry making game. I continue to love every minute of it. I hope to inspire you! I've been teaching this wonderful art form, locally, for 6 years. I've been teaching online through digital tutorials, for about 10 years now. My physical jewelry and patterns are all over the world. I'm teaching my 3rd year at the mineral and fossil shows! Click my Calendar link to know about and register for my upcoming classes. I also appreciate, admire and continue to learn from the many who share. My goal for 2020 is to keep up with regular blog posts to do the same. :) See you again soon!
