Welcome!  This is where I like to share the products, tools and materials that I use personally, in my studio.  My opinions are free so I encourage you to research what is best for you and your studio.  "We're under construction" ... so I will be adding to this page over the next few weeks.  Enjoy!  Thank you for being here.

All About the Light!!

Picture
When you're wire wrapping and working with beads, the light in your work space is very important!  When I first started, I didn't have a plan for lights, I only used my table lamp and the overhead.  This wore my eyes out considerably, which also then can take some of the joy away from your beloved craft!

I researched and purchased great lighting!  Here's where I went, what I bought and why I love it!

For me and my studio (and some students of mine that fell in love with this lamp)... it's the perfect Bench lamp!  It' has a Magnifying Glass with adjustable light levels, is very sturdy and well built, as well as maneuverable!   The arm joints allow me to move the magnifier and light into many positions above my hands, without interfering with my work space.  The adjustable light levels seem to help with my eye fatigue.  And best of all... they are very affordable and came shipped right away.

LightView XL Magnifying Glass Light: 2in1 Floor Standing to Table Lamp

Eyes to see with!!

Students often ask what I use for a magnifier if my lamps and readers are not enough.  I use THESE!

MegaView Magnifier Headset with Three Lenses and you can get them at RioGrande.com
I love these because they come with 3 different size and very wide lenses.  The visor has an adjustable, easy on and easy off strap to fit my head properly.  The lenses are wide enough that I can also wear my glasses under the magnifier lenses.  A huge plus!

Table Space!

Picture
Need a 'table space' to declare as your workbench? For this one, I say 'know thyself'... I'm one who doesn't always clean up project after project and who works on more then one project at a time. So I use banquet tables. Yep... those 6 to 8 feet long, plane, no frills, no drawers, banquet tables.  You can find these anywhere... Home Depot for example. They range from $40 to $80, are wide, long and durable, not to mention, easy to move around for when you're ready to reorganize again and add to your creative space!  You can always upgrade later to a wooden Bench.  These fold up banquet tables are also great for use when you're ready to take your beautiful wire wrapped and beaded jewelry to sell at the shows!
